Smitten: Sambucol

Okay, so this isn't entirely food related, but I think it's pretty close. With a sore throat threatening to get worse and a hubby teetering on the edge of a cold smitten doesn't begin to describe my love for sambucol. My mother has sworn by this elderberry syrup since I was a little girl & it works every time. Believe it or not, it even tastes good. Take it by the spoonful or add it to a piping hot mug of tea and you'll feel better in no time. You can pick a bottle up at most heath food stores or well stocked grocery stores (such as Whole Foods).

*I just noticed that the lozenges are pictured above. I can't say that I've given them a shot, but the syrup is fantastic & the box looks quite similar.

Great to know this exists. My husband's mom makes an unsweetened elderberry syrup every year from their garden (in Germany) and they swear by it as a remedy for many things. They add it to sparkling water and it is wonderfully refreshing and reminiscent of summer in the dead of winter. I am going to try to find this. :0)

Great blog!!! I found it through your dad's raving about it on the group discussion of some friends. What a great dad. LOL

If you're in Longview I know Jack's & Drug Emporium have it.

I love the sparkling water idea, sounds great!
